Scholarship Recipients: Paul Reinhold, Steven Sharpe, Lexie LaPlante and Jason Moran
It’s a date we look forward to every year, our scholarship awards ceremony! Awards were presented on June 25th at our monthly Reckless Steamy Nights small concert series and featured the music of Tommy B & the Deep Blue Sea (if you haven’t heard them yet, check out their YouTube channel).
We’re proud for the opportunity to support graduating seniors who have excelled not just musically but in the classroom as well. This year’s recipients have demonstrated remarkable dedication and commitment to their craft, as well as personal integrity and active community involvement. As far as their talent … well that goes without saying!
Anyone who has attended the Mark LaRochelle Open Mic series (under the expert guidance of JSJBF Board member Joseph Riggio) can confirm. All of us at JSJBF continue to be inspired by the talent and hard work of our younger members, and our scholarship program is one of the many ways we strive to celebrate the musical talents of our members while helping perpetuate our rich Jazz & Blues musical traditions.
We’re ever grateful to those who have established endowed scholarships honoring former members and friends Jerry Topinka, Lloyd R. Daley and Mark LaRochelle, as well as the (new this year) Music Matters! scholarship. We extend our very best wishes to Paul, Steven, Lexie and Jason as they prepare to enter college and we want them to know that we’re here to support them in any way that we can. We’ll be following your progress, so stay in touch!
