The Mark LaRochelle Youth Open Mic presented by The Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation marked a new milestone on March 10th 2023. As reported earlier this year we took it on the road! Our first stop was Ocean County Music in Point Pleasant Beach. They have an amazing program run by Mike Corona and assisted by his brother Sal and multi-talented brother-in-law Vinnie.

Mark Margolies, accompanied by the Fabulous Rhythm Aces made their debut at the JSJBF member venue the Chubby Pickle last Friday night as part of board member Joseph Vincent Riggio’s Blue Collar Blues series.

The new single by The Robert Hill Band, Maybe You Will Someday, will be released Feb. 17, as part of the Blind Raccoon and Nola Blue Records Collection, Volume 5. The collection contains 30 compositions, featuring an array of Blind Raccoon clients, including both independent and label artists.
Jazz, blues and swing were the styles of music that put Asbury Park and Red Bank on the map since the turn of the 20th century. However, as rock and roll took over the venues, these were seen as stepsisters of Rock and Roll.

JSJBF History is a new monthly feature being added to the newsletter by Charlie Wuth and Larry Adelman. Its intention is to share with our volunteers, members, and the community its amazing origin and contribution to jazz and blues music, community education, and youth education in the shore area. JSJBF has a 36-year history of providing music festivals, community outreach, education, and youth music programs, beginning with our first festival in 1988.
