The Gumbo Gumbas are “A delicious medley of authentic New Orleans Jazz with a side of Creole". They play music that will make you happy and want to jump for joy and get their influences from the city that started it all in American music, New Orleans. The Gumbo Gumbas blend the elements of jazz, zydeco, R&B, funk, and rock into a big old fashioned southern stew.
Band leader Joe Grillo first visited New Orleans in 2013 on a family vacation and fell in love with the city. He found himself going down to the Big Easy almost every year afterwards to take in the city and its festivals. The city has an undeniable groove, and once a person experiences it, it becomes embedded in one’s soul and it’s impossible to get rid of.
The band released their first album “Back to NOLA” in February of 2020. Joe spent the down time during the pandemic writing new material for the group and will be releasing the music as digital singles starting in August of 22. The full album called “Zydeland” will be available in the fall of 22. He also released a video spoof on the pandemic called “Nothing To Do” that is available on YouTube.
