This past Tuesday a boat full of Blues lovers boarded the A. J. Meerwald at the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club. It was a beautiful evening for a cruise in the Sandy Hook Bay, listening to the sounds of The Chuck Lambert Band and taking in the scenic sights of the Highlands, which at nearly 1600 feet above sea level, is the highest point on the east coast of the United States. Raising the sails on this two masted schooner, which is the official ship of the State of New Jersey and operating under sail power for a good portion of the cruise was like being transported back to the 1920’s when this ship plied the coastal waters of New Jersey in search of oysters. The trip was capped off with a beautiful sunset over the Raritan Bay.
