On the warm late afternoon of August 22nd, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation held its first event since the Pandemic started. “Reckless Steamy Days,” featuring The Mighty Burners, was a socially distanced event in the beautifully landscaped backyard of our gracious hosts, Vice President Dennis Eschbach and our Office Manager, Doris Lazur.
It was a great time! Don’t just believe what we say, check out the video and some of the pictures.
About 40 guests were treated to a great afternoon of music by the organ-based trio who took their name from a moniker given to the late great organist Charles Erland. The Burners’ leader, long-time member Ron Rauso, was on guitar, with Dan Kostelnick on organ and David Sang on drums. Ron even played our Gretsch Crestline raffle guitar for a song!
The event featured a basket raffle (thank you Board member Jim Murphy and member Juel Kern) and prepackaged snacks. The event raised funds for our youth scholarship program which earlier gave out four scholarships to graduating high school seniors concentrating on music studies in college this fall.
With all of our other events cancelled for the foreseeable future, all in attendance were grateful to share time with each other, from a distance, and listen to some of the terrific music that the JSJBF is known for.
