oseph M. Peterson is a well-known jazz bassist with many musical accomplishments to his name. You wouldn’t know it, but he started out playing heavy metal before he immersed himself in the music which is now his passion. Lucky for our local jazz lovers, Joe will be bringing his eclecticism to the Chubby Pickle with the “Peterson/Weeks Quintet” on Saturday evening, May 20.

JSJBF History is a new monthly feature being added to the newsletter by Charlie Wuth and Larry Adelman. Its intention is to share with our volunteers, members, and the community its amazing origin and contribution to jazz and blues music, community education, and youth education in the shore area. JSJBF has a 36-year history of providing music festivals, community outreach, education, and youth music programs, beginning with our first festival in 1988.

The highs and lows of organizing the Reckless Jazz & Blues Revue
Several months ago, I was approached by Jill Merriman, VP of the Red Bank Woman’s Club, about creating a fundraising event. Since we have a long-standing relationship with them dating back nearly twenty years, hosting “Reckless Steamy Nights” and more recently the “Mark LaRochelle Youth Open Mic” in their home, The Anthony Reckless Estate, I immediately agreed. A fantastic afternoon of music was the result!
1-6pm – Admission: $20
Artist Charlie Meidhof will auctioning off a painting as well and donating a portion of all sales to benefit the cause.
