Band Together for Veterans Video

On May 15, 2022, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF) held its annual Band Together for Veterans event and fundraiser at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como NJ to continue its support of local veteran organizations. Each band that performed included at least one veteran and a total of $2,400 was raised in support of local veteran organization MA22. In addition, the JSJBF filmed and produced a video to help prevent veteran suicide and boost awareness directly through the words of veterans themselves.

In partnership with MA22, a local veteran’s organization focused on community engagement and suicide prevention, and through a generous grant from Ocean First Bank, the video aims to raise awareness and funds to help provide some of the resources needed combat the estimated twenty-two daily Veteran suicides epidemic. The services the MA22 organization provides includes treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain injury, and other disabilities. They also provide an opportunity to experience treatment outside of the Veteran Affairs Administration facilities and provide programs at no cost to the veteran.

Band Together for Veterans raises funds to distribute to veteran agencies and organizations that address the prevention of veteran suicide, homelessness, and treatment of PTSD. Each year, local musicians perform to raise funds, with the proceeds donated to a local program for veterans in Monmouth and Ocean counties to help fund local programs. To date, the program has raised $10,000 for local organizations.
