The Idle Hour in Point Pleasant was the site of the JSJBF’s latest Membership Meet Up. We will continue to move these events to different locations in Monmouth and Ocean counties in order to make them accessible to our membership and the general public.
We’ve all heard this line, “If you build it, they will come.” This not-quite accurate Field of Dreams quote still resonates. For me, it became kind of a mantra, build it and they will come. Build what exactly, you’re wondering? We at the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation reached out to our Mississippi friends. Reflecting upon the legacy of the MS Delta blues and the integrally related rock ‘n roll heritage of the Jersey Shore, we created The Mississippi Delta Meets the Jersey Shore!
This is becoming a thing. On Wednesday, May 24th, the town of Matawan –in conjunction with the JSJBF– held their second annual “Blues & Cruise” night. And just like last year, the event was epic.
“Welcome to the 1989 Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Festival. This event was conceived last year and was the first of its kind on the Jersey Shore. Through it, we hope to showcase the area’s best jazz and blues talent and to introduce you to selected artists from Philadelphia, Northern New Jersey and New York.

On August 12, 2022, the scorching weather broke here in Monmouth County, NJ but once again the areas most talented musical youth brought the heat to The Mark LaRochelle Youth Open Mic presented by The Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation. It’s constant influx of new performers and returning regulars truly makes it everyone’s “Favorite Friday Night of the Month.”
On July 23, the JSJBF headed a bit north to The Crossroads in Garwood for an evening of smoking rock and blues.

On May 15, 2022, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF) held its annual Band Together for Veterans event and fundraiser at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como NJ to continue its support of local veteran organizations. Each band that performed included at least one veteran and a total of $2,400 was raised in support of local veteran organization MA22
On a warm June Friday night, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation awarded four scholarships to graduating High School seniors at the June Reckless Steamy Nights concert series sponsored by the law firm of Joseph G. Hughes, Esq. and Oppenheimer & Co. Our musical guests, long time JSJBF member Sandy Sasso and her band, started the evening off with a set of jazz tunes that showcased this very talented group
