Local IBC Best Self Produced CD Competition

2019-2020 JSJBF Local IBC Best Self-Produced CD Competition

International Blues Challenge IBC

The Blues Foundation has announced that it will again be recognizing excellence achieved by artists in the recording studio by bestowing the 2020 ‘Best Self-Produced’ CD Award at the finals competition of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee on Saturday, February 1, 2020.

The CD submitted must have been released between November 1,2018-October 31, 2019. Acts can be bands, solo or duo acts, trios, full choirs or any other combination. Compilation CD’s are not eligible. The Blues Foundation will conduct two rounds of judging by radio/print personalities leading to the final round. The winner need not be present at the finals competition.

Submissions will be evaluated by the JSJBF IBC CD Committee on the basis of the same criteria used by The Blues Foundation: 1) Blues Content; 2) Musical Performance; 3) Audio Quality of Presentation(Production Values/Levels); 4) Cover Art and Design( Professional Packaging/Ready for Rack Sales), and 5) Credits and Liner Notes Information( Informative/Professional). The Blues Foundation again has asked that Criteria 5 be stressed since many submissions lack this item and it adversely affects the scoring of their submission.

If you are interested in submitting an entry in this portion of our local IBC competition, please send your letter of interest and your Sep 1, 2019- August 31, 2020 band or solo dues together with 3 copies of your CD for consideration to Gene Iadanza, JSJBF IBC CD COMMITTEE, 952 Sycamore Ave. Tinton Falls, NJ 07724 on/before Friday, September 20, 2019. ( We have to use an earlier deadline then the October 31, 2019, Blues Foundation cutoff to give our local committee time to listen to and evaluate the submissions, choose our representative and get it to The Blues Foundation’s headquarters in Memphis by November 1, 2019). The winner will be selected and all participants advised of the results. Four additional copies of your winning CD will then be needed to submit to the Blues Foundation with our cover letter.
