And the winners are...

First of all, thanks and congrats to co-chairs Gene and Pat for organizing three exciting nights of great music! Paul's Tavern's back-room was packed, enthusiasm was high, the bands were psyched, the beer was cold, and the music howled.

The IBC committee chose two nights of semi-finalist contestants, and from those performances selected the finalist bands. Short 25-minute sets (which match the set times in Memphis) allowed the performers to max out, putting lots of focussed energy into their short times onstage. Now, I wouldn't want to be the judge of this thing, because all those performances were FINE. You could get a little hint of how things were going, tho, by counting the number of dancing feet.

Our Foundation couldn't have been prouder of the member bands that participated in the semi-finals and finals. There were no losers in this competition. The closeness of the scoring shows that the judges had a difficult job tonight. The final totals were very close. Thanks to the judges -- Lou, Janet, and Russ.

Congratulations to the Matt O'Ree Band. They will be representing JSJBF in Memphis in January. Great job too by our second place finisher The Michael Packer Blues Band and our third place finisher The Shadetree Mechanics. And our thanks to all the other bands too. I hope you all enjoyed the night as much we, your fans, did. I look forward to seeing you all again in next year's competition.

Congratulations to all the contestants and our thanks for three nights of fantastic music & memorable good times. And best wishes to the winners, who are going on to the international IBC competition. Do us proud, folks!
